Climate control, air quality and seasonal comfort — engineered in.
Reliant HVAC Repair installs and services heating, cooling and ventilation systems with a measurement-first approach. Every visit begins with diagnostics, not guesswork.
We balance refrigerant charge, duct airflow and filtration so your equipment runs the way it was designed to run — quietly, evenly and efficiently.
Reliant HVAC Repair is a heating, cooling and indoor air quality company based in Peekskill, New York. We service residential systems and light commercial equipment across Peekskill and the surrounding communities, and every visit is built around measurement before recommendation.
Our technicians work to manufacturer specification on installations and repairs, document the readings they take, and explain findings in plain language so the decision to repair, tune up or replace is made on evidence rather than on guesswork. Cooling, heating and air quality are treated as one connected system, because temperature, humidity and airflow only hold together when they are tuned together.
Cooling, heating and indoor air quality are not separate problems. We service them as one connected system so temperature, humidity and air movement stay in agreement.

How we work
System diagnostics & repair process
A consistent four-step sequence keeps every job auditable. You know what was tested, what was found and what changed before we leave.
01
Comprehensive Diagnostic Walkthrough
We start at the thermostat and follow the system to where the air actually goes — static pressure, temperatures across the coil, refrigerant pressures and airflow at registers.

02
Transparent System Assessment
Findings are explained in plain language with the measurements behind them, so you can decide between repair, tune-up or replacement on real information.

03
Precision Repair or Installation
Approved work is performed to manufacturer specification — correct part, correct charge, correct controls — then re-tested under load, not just switched on.

Final Efficiency & Air Flow Validation
We close the loop by confirming supply and return temperature split, room-to-room balance and normal cycling behaviour before we sign off.

Indoor environment solutions
The factors that decide how a room feels
Temperature is only one input. These four controls determine whether air is clean, properly humidified and evenly distributed.
Dust & allergen filtration
Most indoor air quality complaints trace back to what the return air is allowed to carry into the equipment. We match filter media and cabinet capacity to the system instead of defaulting to a thin one-inch filter.
Filter cabinet and sizing checkConfirming the media physically fits and seals without bypass.
Media grade recommendationHigher-efficiency media suggested when the system can pull the extra static pressure.
Upgrade options for tight spacesMedia frames and cabinet upgrades that reduce pressure drop.
Humidity control
Air that is too dry aggravates respiratory irritation and static; air that is too damp invites condensation, mold and dust mites. We diagnose the cause before adding equipment.
Humidity measurement at supply and returnIdentifying where moisture is entering the airstream.
Whole-home humidifier servicePad replacement, water level, float and drain line clearing.
Dehumidification & condensate correctionFixing over-cooling and slow drainage that dampen air and floors.
Airflow optimization
A system that moves the right amount of air feels different in every room. We measure rather than guess, then correct at the source — the blower, the ducts or the registers.
Blower profile & motor verificationConfirming the fan delivers designed airflow, not a reduced setting.
Duct balancingAdjusting dampers and registers so conditioned air reaches the end of the run.
Static pressure correctionRestricting pressure drop caused by dirty coils or undersized ducts.
Smart thermostat setup
A thermostat is only as good as its configuration. We set schedules, staging and sensor placement to match your actual equipment instead of leaving factory defaults in place.
Equipment matchingConfirming the thermostat supports your heating and cooling stages and heat pump mode.
Schedule & staging tuningComfort settings, away modes and staging behaviour aligned to occupancy.
Sensor placementMoving sensors away from drafts, direct sun and heat sources for accurate readings.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Maintenance timing, early failure signs and heat pump decisions — answered by the people who actually work on the equipment.
Plan on a cooling tune-up before warm weather and a heating check ahead of cold weather — a seasonal rhythm that keeps both halves of the system exercised. Beyond that, the correct interval depends on equipment type, system age, filter habits and how hard the system runs. A filtered recirculating system in a dusty environment or with pets needs shorter spacing than a lightly used one. We inspect filter condition, coil cleanliness and static pressure during each visit and will recommend an interval based on what we actually find rather than a fixed calendar rule.
What are the early warning signs of an HVAC failure?
Listen and look before the system fully fails. Common early signals include a change in the sound of the blower, a unit running continuously without reaching setpoint, short cycling, uneven temperatures between rooms, visible condensation or moisture around vents, a sudden rise in energy use at the same conditions, and ice or frost on the outdoor coil that returns within a period of thawing. Any of these point to a specific subsystem — airflow, refrigerant charge, drainage or controls — and are worth diagnosing before peak demand arrives.
Are heat pumps better than traditional furnace and AC systems?
Heat pumps move heat rather than generating it, so a single unit can handle both heating and cooling with one air distribution system. That makes them well suited to homes with ductless retrofits, mild climates and a goal of reducing fuel consumption, and it explains why heat pump maintenance has its own rhythm — refrigerant charge, defrost operation and reversing valve behaviour all need attention. A traditional furnace-and-AC setup remains a sound choice where extreme cold, very large square footage or fuel availability dominates the decision. The right comparison is your climate, your duct or ductless layout, and how you want the system controlled.
How do I know if my ducts are the problem?
Signs include rooms that stay uncomfortable while the system runs, a blower that sounds strained, dust blowing out of registers, and a system that meets setpoint only in the rooms nearest the equipment. During a visit we measure static pressure and airflow rather than inferring from comfort reports. A dirty coil, a closed or obstructed register, or undersized flex duct can each produce the same symptoms and each has a different fix — which is why the diagnostic comes first.
Does my system really need refrigerant added every year?
If a sealed system is losing charge, the cause needs to be located before anything is added. Topping off without finding the leak simply restores the problem to its original state. We test with gauges and recovery methods, check for abnormal line temperatures and inspect the lines themselves, then repair the source and recharge the system to specification. Some systems need no refrigerant at all after a proper visit — only a cleaning and a verification that the charge is still correct.
